New Washington Heights Group Puts Spotlight on Changing Social Scene

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — A new Washington Heights group is trying to put a spotlight on the best up-and-coming hotspots the neighborhood has to offer — from the top clothing designers to the most in-demand restaurants and clubs.

And they're trying to put a fresh face on it by picking local covermodels to star in their campaign.

Friday Night Heights, a year-old grassroots group looking to put a fresh spin on northern Manhattan, has launched a summer-long campaign to bring attention to their best attractions. The group's name is a play on the "Friday Night Lights" — the book about Southern football games that became a popular movie and TV show.

Dubbed the "Heights Renaissance," in a nod to their southern neighbors' "Harlem Renaissance," the group plans to launch public service-style advertisements to promote the area.

Uhhh is it brunch yet??….

Waking up barely sober with the taste of Hennessy still present and starved because the line at the Patacon spot just didn’t make sense to you, yes it’s that time .

My good friends Evan and Melissa and I decided to catch some brunch which is a beginning to feel like how others feel about religion on sundays. First off we agreed to stay local instead of dealing with Sunday MTA so we had a couple options but decided to walk just a couple blocks uptown to Columbia Social, the former Plum Pomidor.

From what i hear it’s the same owner but after renaming the place the Columbia students really made this feel like it was part of the hospital around lunch. Once we got there we where seated pretty quickly and started to peruse the pre-fix menu which for $19.95
includes an Entrée with Bottomless Champagne cocktails or Red or White Wine.

Both Ev and Melissa had the Breakfast Burrito which by the looks of there plates went down pretty well, I had the Avocado, Fresh Tomatoes and Jack Cheese Omelete, and for my son the Chef was nice enough to fix a plate of Pancakes with mix fruits. We also ordered some Home Fries for the table which where great, props to the Chef for baking instead of frying them.
